The George and Laura Roediger House belongs to Raymond C. (Ray) Jones, a native of Buies Creek, North Carolina, and a resident of Winston-Salem since 2001.
This is Ray's second round of Winston-Salem living, if you do not count the summer he was a student at the Governor's School of North Carolina program. (He spent six weeks living in Single Sisters Dorm). Ray first moved to Winston in 1987, following college, to serve as Assistant to the President of the Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina. This was followed by two years at Wake Forest University, where he obtained his Master of Arts in Education before beginning a teaching career in Lee and Wake Counties. Ray's undergraduate degree is from the University of North Carolina and includes a double-major in Journalism and Political Science.
Ray earned his PhD from the University of Virginia and was offered a faculty position in the Education Department at Wake Forest University. For six years he directed the secondary social studies program there, and now he works as an educational consultant. He also continues to teach courses for the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education, in conjunction with the University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
